CD10是一种跨膜锌金属蛋白酶，可催化水解P物质、心钠素、血管紧张素等生物活性肽来介导神经发育和激素调节。同时，CD10参与B细胞的生长和活化，是生发中心B细胞的特异性标志物。因此，CD10可用于Burkitt淋巴瘤、滤泡性淋巴瘤、弥漫性大B细胞淋巴瘤、淋巴母细胞性淋巴瘤等肿瘤的分型和诊断中，且其阴性表达被认为是患者预后不良的独立危险因素。但是，有研究发现CD10可表达于肺癌、胃癌、结直肠癌、胰腺癌、乳腺癌、前列腺癌等恶性疾病中，且其高表达与癌细胞的浸润和转移相关，这可能是由于CD10改变了肿瘤微环境或降解了可抑制肿瘤生长的脑啡肽。又有学者指出CD10下调有助于膀胱癌的肌层浸润，因此其具体作用机制还有待进一步研究。
