CD10 is a transmembrane zinc metalloproteinase that can catalyze the hydrolysis of bioactive peptides such as P-substance, cardionatrin, and angiotensin to mediate neural development and hormone regulation. Meanwhile, CD10 is involved in the growth and activation of B cells. It serves as a specific biomarker for germinal center B cells. Therefore, CD10 can be used for the classification and diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B cell lymphoma, lymphoblastic lymphoma and other tumors, and its negative expression is considered as an independent risk factor for poor prognosis. However, some research found that CD10 can be expressed in lung cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and other malignant diseases, and its high expression is related to the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells, which may be because CD10 will change the tumor microenvironment or degrade enkephalin that can inhibit tumor growth. Meanwhile, some scholars pointed out that the down-regulated CD10 contributes to the muscle invasion of bladder cancer, so its specific mechanism needs further research.
