半乳糖凝集素-3 (Galectin-3)是一种β-半乳糖苷结合蛋白，广泛参与细胞生长、细胞凋亡、胚胎发育、免疫调控等过程。临床上，Galectin-3在甲状腺癌的阳性率显著高于良性病变和正常组织而成为最具价值的鉴别指标之一，且其高表达于分化型甲状腺癌而低表达于甲状腺未分化癌和甲状腺髓样癌。并且，Galectin-3与肺癌、胃癌、结直肠癌、乳腺癌、卵巢癌等肿瘤的发生发展密切相关。例如：Galectin-3在肺癌中可介导细胞毒性T细胞耗竭、M2型肿瘤相关巨噬细胞产生和自然杀伤细胞活性抑制，而在乳腺癌中可通过上调细胞周期蛋白来刺激细胞增殖，并通过结合整合素αvβ3和激活FAK来促进血管形成。但有学者指出Galectin-3表达水平与宫颈癌进展呈负相关，具体机制尚不明确。
