CD57

CD57 is a glycoprotein antigen that can not only regulate the adhesion and signal transduction of nerve cells, but also participate in the enhancement of NK cell toxicity. In clinical practice, CD57 has become a diagnostic biomarker for nervous system tumors, including neuroblastoma (NB), ganglioneuroma (GN), neurofibroma, etc. (NF). Among them, some research found that the CD57 positivity rate of undifferentiated NB is significantly higher than that of differentiated NB, and its high expression tumors have stronger invasiveness. Meanwhile, CD57 can assist in the diagnosis of lymphoid and hematopoietic system diseases such as T cell large granular lymphocyte leukemia and nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma. Meanwhile, some scholars pointed out that CD57 positive patients in gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and breast cancer have better prognosis compared to being negative, which is because CD57+ NK cells have higher antitumor immune activity. In addition, CD57 is highly expressed in papillary thyroid carcinoma but lowly expressed in benign thyroid lesions, which makes it useful for assisting in identification.
