CD79a is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. As an important component of B cell receptors, the binding of CD79a and CD79b is a crucial element in B cell signaling, involved in cell proliferation, development, and activation. As a specific marker of B cells, CD79a has been widely applied in the diagnosis of various lymphatic system diseases such as classical Hodgkin lymphoma, diffuse large B cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, etc. Moreover, patients with high expression of CD79a commonly have poor prognosis, which may be because it can promote the proliferation of regulatory T cells and induce the secretion of tumor related factors. But some scholars found the CD79a+ T cell lymphoma, speculated that it is related to gene rearrangement. In addition, CD79a can be used for differential diagnosis between acute B cell leukemia (+) and acute myeloid leukemia (-), and its high expression is considered to accelerate the infiltration and recurrence of leukemia cells in the central nervous system, but the specific mechanism is still unclear.
