CAM5.2 is a monoclonal antibody targeting low molecular weight cytokeratin. The CK7 and CK8 labeled by it mainly exist in secretory epithelial cells and have various functions such as maintaining morphology, regulating proliferation, and mediating adhesion. In clinical practice, CAM5.2 has become a specific diagnostic biomarker for lung adenocarcinoma, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and other adenocarcinoma tissues, and played an important role in the differentiation between adenocarcinoma (+) and squamous cell carcinoma (-). Meanwhile, CAM5.2 can be used for the diagnosis of metastatic adenocarcinoma. Some research suggests that it has more advantages than AE1/AE3 in distinguishing between glioblastoma (-) and brain metastatic adenocarcinoma (+). Moreover, CAM5.2 has been applied in the research of lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, and cholangiocarcinoma. Its expression in tumor budding and isolated tumor cells is associated with poor prognosis. In addition, CAM5.2 can assist in the diagnosis of breast and extramammary Paget's disease, and some scholars pointed out that it can be expressed in skin squamous cell carcinoma with Paget differentiation characteristics.
