Laminin is a glycoprotein composed of three polypeptide chains (α, β and γ) connected by disulfide bonds. It is an important component of the extracellular matrix, which is widely present in the basal membrane of various tissues, having the regulatory effect on cell growth, differentiation and movement. Some research found that cancer cells can adhere to the basal membrane through the mediation of Laminin, which may promote the expression of collagenase type IV and inhibit the binding of Laminin to collagen type IV, thereby causing damage to the normal physiological structure of the basal membrane and inducing the infiltration and migration of tumor. Therefore, Lamin can be used to observe the changes of the basal membrane in lung cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and other tumor tissues, indirectly reflecting the malignancy of tumors. In addition, the expression of Laminin-332 composed of α3, β3 and γ2 is found in liver cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and pancreatic cancer, which may promote the adhesion and migration of cancer cells through the interaction with integrins α3β1 and α6β4.
