Bcl-2

B-cell lymphoma/leukemia 2 (BCL2) is an anti-apoptotic factor in the BCL family. It can inhibit apoptosis by antagonizing the function of pro-apoptotic factors and suppressing the release of cytochrome C. Research revealed that in some follicular lymphoma and diffuse large B cell lymphoma, t (14; 18) (q32; q21) chromosomal translocation may occur to induce BCL2 high expression, thereby enhancing cell anti-apoptotic capacity and promoting tumor development. Therefore, BCL2 has become an important biomarker for lymphoma diagnosis, and its detection results have reference value for patient prognosis. In addition, BCL2 can be expressed in tumors without the chromosomal translocation, such as gastric cancer, bladder cancer, and endometrial cancer, and it is associated with cancer cell infiltration and metastasis, but the specific mechanism is still unclear. However, some scholars pointed out that lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer patients with high BCL2 expression have better prognosis, suggesting that BCL2 may exert opposing mechanisms in different tumors.
