CD61

CD61, also known as integrin β3, is an adhesion receptor primarily present in platelets and megakaryocytes. Its binding to ligands will promote cell adhesion and aggregation, and regulate cell survival and apoptosis. CD61 can be expressed in immature or poorly differentiated megakaryocytes, so it can assist in the diagnosis of acute megakaryocytic leukemia. Moreover, CD61 is abnormally expressed in various malignant diseases and has multiple mechanisms. In nasopharyngeal carcinoma, CD61 can inhibit apoptosis and stimulate metastasis through the MAPK/ERK pathway, and promote epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor angiogenesis through the FAK/AKT pathway. In lung adenocarcinoma, CD61 can mediate the binding of cancer cells to osteopontin, bone sialoprotein, and fibronectin to promote tumor bone metastasis. In breast cancer, CD61 can enhance TGF-β signal to accelerate tumor deterioration, and induce the generation and renewal of tumor stem cells to resist treatment. In summary, CD61 has important medical value in the prognostic evaluation of tumors.
