CD14 is a membrane receptor that mainly exists in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It can recognize and bind to bacterial lipopolysaccharides to initiate immune response. As one of the biomarkers of the mononuclear phagocyte system, CD14 can be combined with CD3, CD7, CD19, CD79a, MPO, and other antibodies for the classification of lymphoma and leukemia. Among them, CD14+ myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) were found in diffuse large B cell lymphoma, and their immunosuppressive effect is closely related to tumor progression. Meanwhile, up-regulated CD14 expression is considered as a reference indicator for poor prognosis in patients with astrocytoma, which may be because CD14 promotes the production of proliferation factors and regulates the coding of apoptosis genes by activating the NF-κB pathway. In addition, CD14 can recruit macrophages and trigger inflammation to promote tumor growth in breast cancer and bladder cancer, but reverse M2 tumor associated macrophages to M1 type to exert tumor inhibition effect in pancreatic cancer and urothelial carcinoma.
