Myeloid/histiocyte antigen (MHA), also known as MAC387, is a monoclonal antibody that can label the mononuclear phagocyte system. The molecules it recognizes are involved in the antigen presentation and inflammatory response. MAC387 is mainly used in the research of various inflammatory diseases. For example, MAC387 can exacerbate the inflammatory response and fibrosis of the liver in patients with hepatic alveolar echinococcosis. The number of MAC387+ macrophages is also found to be correlated with the injury degree of renal function in IgA nephropathy. Meanwhile, in inflammatory seborrheic keratosis, the diseased keratinocytes may use MAC387 as a chemokine for other immune cells. Moreover, MAC387 can be expressed in squamous differentiation (SqD) cells of bladder cancer and urothelial carcinoma, and SqD may be related to tumor recurrence. The high density of MAC387 positive cells is also considered as a poor prognostic factor in cholangiocarcinoma patients. In addition, MAC387 can be used to assist in the diagnosis of histiocytosis and malignant fibrous histiocytoma. Some malignant melanoma cells can also express MAC387.
