B-lymphocyte specific activating OCT binding protein 1 (BOB.1) is a specific transcription factor in B cells that can interact with OCT-2 to promote B cell proliferation and activate immunoglobulin (Ig) gene expression, ensuring the normal development and function maintaining of immune system. In clinical practice, BOB.1 is mainly used as a diagnostic biomarker for B-cell derived tumors. It can exist in almost all B cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas, including Burkitt lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B cell lymphoma, etc. Meanwhile, the combination of BOB.1 and OCT-2 plays an important role in the classification of Hodgkin lymphoma. They are both expressed in nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) but will be down-regulated or even absent in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL), which may be the reason for the transcriptional inactivation of Ig genes in R-S cells of CHL. In addition, some scholars pointed out that acute myeloid leukemia patients with co-expression of BOB.1 and OCT-2 have higher risk of recurrence.
