Multiple myeloma oncogene 1 (MUM1) is an oncogene activated by chromosome translocation in multiple myeloma. Its encoded product is also known as interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4), which is specifically expressed in lymphocytes and participates in B lymphocyte differentiation and T lymphocyte activation through various signaling pathways. In clinical practice, MUM1 is positively expressed in various lymphatic system tumors such as multiple myeloma, lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, and anaplastic large cell lymphoma, which makes it become an important diagnostic marker for lymphatic system diseases, especially for the classification of diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Meanwhile, MUM1 can promote cell proliferation and inhibit apoptosis, related to tumor recurrence and metastasis, which is expected to become a new prognostic indicator. In addition, the research of MUM1 in the diagnosis and prognosis of pancreatic cancer and melanoma has been paid more and more attention.
