Friend leukemia integrin 1 transcription factor (FLI-1) is a member of the ETS transcription factor family, mainly existing in vascular endothelial cells and hematopoietic stem cells, which participates in life activities such as tissue development, immune regulation and vascular repairing. FLI-1 positivity is an important pathological feature of erythroleukemia, which can activate the Ras signaling pathway to promote the proliferation of nucleated red blood cells and trigger the disease. Meanwhile, FLI-1 can be used to diagnose vascular tumors such as hemangioma, glomangioma, and angiosarcoma, and it isn’t expressed in epithelial tumors, which makes it useful for assisting in identification. Moreover, FLI-1 is an essential diagnostic biomarker for Ewing's sarcoma. The EWSR1-FLI-1 fusion gene is commonly found in the tumor, and its encoded product can promote the occurrence and development. In addition, FLI-1 is closely related to the invasion and metastasis of solid tumors. For example, FLI-1 in breast cancer can inhibit tumor cell apoptosis by up-regulating the expression of BCL2, and promote tumor angiogenesis by regulating the production of angiogenic factors.
