LMO2 is a transcription regulatory factor belonging to the LIM domain only (LMO) family. It does not directly interact with DNA, but indirectly regulates downstream gene expression by binding to other transcription factors to form complexes, participating in lymphocyte maturation and hematopoietic system development. Under physiological conditions, LMO2 mainly exists in the germinal center B cells of lymphoid tissue. Therefore, LMO2 can be used as one of the diagnostic biomarkers for various B cell derived tumors such as follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B cell lymphoma, Burkitt's lymphoma, etc. Meanwhile, some research has found that LMO2 plays an important role in the occurrence and development of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), and its high expression is correlated with shortened overall survival of patients, indicating that LMO2 has important medical value in the diagnosis and prognosis of T-ALL. In addition, some scholars believe that LMO2 may be involved in the carcinogenesis of the stomach, prostate, and blood vessels.
