Stathmin is a microtubule regulatory factor that can inhibit microtubule aggregation and promote depolymerization, participating in the dynamic balance of microtubule together with the microtubule stabilizing protein. During the G2/M phase of the cell cycle, Stathmin is phosphorylated to its inactive form to promote spindle formation, and then it returns to its dephosphorylated active form and enters the next cycle. Some research has found that Stathmin is abnormally expressed in lung cancer, liver cancer, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and other tumors, and its expression results are negatively correlated with the degree of cancer differentiation, indicating that Stathmin is closely related to the occurrence and development of tumors and the poor prognosis of patients, which has potential diagnostic and prognostic value, but its specific mechanism is still unclear. In addition, the expression level of Stathmin is up-regulated with the increased lesion grade of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), so it can be used in combination with P16 and Ki-67 for pathological grading of CIN.
